Fees & Coverage
Coverage
Unfortunately, psychotherapy and counselling are not covered under OHIP, but is HST exempt when provided by a registered social worker. Many private insurance companies cover psychotherapy or counselling provided by a registered social worker. Please check directly with your insurance provider in advance to verify coverage and any reimbursement you may be applicable for. A receipt is automatically provided to you by email upon payment for reimbursement that contains Brianna’s registration number and the service provided (i.e., individual therapy, grief counseling, etc).
Trauma therapy may be billed directly through the Hamilton Victim Services Quick Response Program (VQRP+) if you have been approved through that program. Individual psychotherapy, grief counselling, caregiver counselling, or trauma therapy may also be billed directly through the Non-Insured Health Benefit (NIHB), Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program (IRS RHSP), or Brighter Futures Murdered & Missing Indigenous Women & Girls (MMIWG) programs (if you are eligible and are Indigenous).
If you receive ODSP or CPP-D and require financial support, you may be eligible for the Pro Bono Program. Passport funding may also be available for those enrolled.
If you require financial assistance for a SDA capacity assessment, please contact Capacity Assessment Ontario to learn more about their Financial Assistance Program. If you are approved for this program, your assessment will be billed directly through the CAO. Capacity assessments are payable by cheque in addition to e-transfer, Visa debit, or credit card.
